Scripting Information

This page lists references and links to useful information about scripting the Macintosh. The focus of this page is AppleScript, but there are references to other Macintosh scripting systems such as Userland Software's Frontier.

This page is continually under construction. As we find new links we will add them to this page. If you know of a link that you think others might find useful, please pass it along to us at support@latenightsw.com.

Web Sites
MacScripter.net A very good compendium of AppleScript information.
Apple Computer's AppleScript Site This site provides many new examples and offers extensive information covering scripting changes made in Mac OS 8, 9 and X.
ScriptWeb's OSAXen Database A searchable version of the ScriptWeb OSAXen database.
The AppleScript Sourcebook This is Bill Cheeseman's site and is dedicated to AppleScript news and information.
ScriptWeb ScriptWeb offers a vast array of links and information about scripting and AppleScript. At times, the information gets a little dated, but it's a very good place to start.
The Frontier Site Frontier from Userland Software is a powerful Macintosh scripting environment with an integrated database. In addition to its own UserTalk scripting language, Frontier supports AppleScript or any other OSA scripting system.

AppleScript Libraries
Macscript.com Library
The Macscript.com Library features over 110 functions written natively in AppleScript in six suites: file functions, general functions, list functions, math functions, process functions, and string functions. Wherever possible, these functions have been written without the use of even the standard scripting additions, with many functions dramatically outperforming their scripting addition equivalents by more than 100 times.
